Three men assaulted in Bengaluru for chanting 'Jai Shri Ram' on Ram Navami

Three men who were travelling in a car faced verbal harassment and physical assault purportedly for chanting "Jai Shri Ram" slogans in Bengaluru. Following the circulation of a viral video depicting the incident on social media, the police initiated a case and apprehended three suspects.
The incident occurred in the Chikkabettahalli area as three men travelled in a car, displaying a flag and chanting "Jai Shri Ram" slogans to mark Ram Navami. They were confronted by two individuals on motorcycles who objected to their chanting.
The video footage depicts the motorcyclists cautioning the men against uttering "Jai Sri Ram" slogans and instead instructing them to chant "Allah Hu Akbar".
The verbal disagreement quickly turned violent as the motorcyclists and several bystanders assaulted the individuals inside the car. According to police reports, one of the three men sustained a head injury from being struck with a stick, while another suffered a nose injury during the altercation.
According to BM Laxmi Prasad, the Deputy Commissioner of Police for Northeast Bengaluru City, three young individuals were chanting "Jai Shri Ram" and holding a flag while travelling in a car. Two other individuals blocked their path, questioning them about the slogans and demanding they chant "Allah Hu Akbar."
When the occupants of the car exited, the individuals on the bike left momentarily but returned with more people to assault them. During the altercation, one person sustained a nose injury.
Prasad confirmed that a case has been filed at Vidhyaranyapura Police Station under IPC Sections 295, 298, 324, 326, 506, and for rioting. He stated that three out of the five individuals involved have been apprehended, with plans to detain the remaining two soon. Farman and Sameer have been identified as two of the accused, while the other three are reportedly minors.
