Sunita Kejriwal, wife of Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal, introduced a WhatsApp campaign named 'Kejriwal ko Aashirwad' via a video message. In the message, she shared a WhatsApp number for people to send their wishes to the jailed Aam Aadmi Party convenor.
"We are initiating a campaign today called 'Kejriwal ko aashirvaad'. You can send your blessings and prayers to Kejriwal on this number," she stated.
Her statement follows a court appearance by the chief minister in Delhi's Rouse Avenue court, where his ED custody was extended until April 1. Sunita Kejriwal attended the court proceedings, during which her husband made submissions before the judge.
Addressing reporters, she expressed concern about her husband's health, noting fluctuations in his sugar levels and alleging harassment. She stated her belief that the current oppression would not endure and that the public would respond accordingly.
During the hearing, Kejriwal accused the ED of attempting to suppress his Aam Aadmi Party. He asserted his readiness for investigation, declaring his willingness to remain in remand for as long as necessary.
In a crowded courtroom, the Delhi chief minister questioned the rationale behind his arrest, citing extensive documentation submitted by the CBI and ED in the case. He highlighted that despite his name appearing in only four statements, substantial investigative efforts had been undertaken, including the examination of 294 witnesses by the CBI and investigation of 162 individuals by the ED.
"The Enforcement Directorate argued that further interrogation of the arrestee is necessary based on these reasons or findings. Therefore, the Directorate of Enforcement requested that Arvind Kejriwal be granted seven days' additional custodial remand in the interest of the investigation," stated the ED plea.
"After reviewing the statements recorded during the investigation and considering the request for an extension of custodial interrogation for further sustained and detailed questioning, the court extended the ED custody of the accused, Kejriwal, until April 1," announced the court.
