Dear Anonymous Author,
I read your rambling in your largely incoherent letter to PM Modi. Seeing how busy he is working 16 hours-a-day for the development of the nation, I took it upon myself to respond.
You open with the statement that if the PM had an iota of ‘sharam’ he would step down. Would you use the word “shame” if you were writing to Sonia Gandhi or Manmohan Singh? The only reason you think you can address Mr. Modi in this foul manner is because in your eyes he is still a chai-wallah. So, yeah -- shame on you!!
You next reveal your ignorance by wishing that the Indian Constitution gave power to people to topple governments. Well, first of all, in democracies governments are not toppled. In democracies such as India, governments are voted out, when enough people think change is needed, through elections. So, what you really wish is if there was some provision for people like you to run the country as per your whim. That happens in dictatorships or maybe “democracies” like Turkey, which I am told is nice this time of the year.
Next is this fevered line -- Unrest in Kashmir, Dalit lynching, Akhlaq, murders, corruption, and many like Adani’s and Ambanis who have your hand on their heads as saviour and protector. Tell me if there some software that allows you to churn out this inane rhetoric to help you sound like you actually understand stuff?
I can’t, however, let go of this “unrest in Kashmir” nonsense. Self-centred “liberals” like you stood by did not say a word when Islamic extremists attacked Pandit women and massacred children in 1990, and a few dead Pandits did not change the mood of your kitty parties. Now, you are crying murder because for once the Indian Army is empowered to respond as the situation warrants? I can’t imagine the gumption and the sheer lack of morality it takes someone who calls herself an “Indian” to lay the blame for the Kashmir imbroglio on this government’s doorsteps.
Next -- UPA gave us corrupt officials but not as corrupt and devious as you and people in your party.
I am sure you have some proof to substantiate the accusation that Modi and his people are more corrupt. Or were you, to quote Tom Cruise from ‘A Few Good Men’- “sick the day they taught law at law school”? Or, do you belong to one of the modern “snowflake social justice warrior troupe” where they “don’t wish to debate but talk about my pain”?
About your husband telling you, that you had to leave...Honestly, other than the hyperventilating wife of a mega-star, I have not met a single couple sharing your anxieties.
While we are on the topic of settling elsewhere, solve one more mystery for me, will you? You say you are very happy and safe in your new location. I wonder where it is. Hmm, if it is France, I hope your husband is not a football fan or that both of you think of having a cup of coffee late evenings at a roadside café as stupid. If you like any of such activities, then France may not be as hot for you as you think. If you have migrated to the United States, I just hope you are not in the habit of saying ‘Allah’ while on an aeroplane, because you will be deplaned. Honestly – just read today’s newspaper if you are in the habit of reading newspapers.
Or, if you are in the habit of wearing “bindis”, you may not want to become a victim of the “dot busters”, right? Reading your commentary about ‘we can eat what we like’ I am assuming it is not anywhere in the Gulf, because you can’t find an open restaurant in those places during a certain month, or you choice of ham on rye-wheat bread may get you a few lashes on your derriere. Oh, and one more thing -- in those places you better hope all your loved ones are heterosexual in orientation. Those countries can hang you in a public square for being gay, you know.
What else? – Oh yes, in the US in about half the states you do not have a right over your uterus, and on college campuses you can lose your tenure or your scholarship if you someone accuses of “micro aggression”, let alone for writing a crude, bigoted essay like you have done. I can’t imagine why you will not feel safe and welcome in any of those places.
You mention you will wait anxiously for Modi ji to be defeated in 2019, and like the good left character-assassin you are, you mention he or the RSS will not be able to “compete” in an election. First of all, elections are not Olympics to compete in. Elections are contested, and as long as we Indians keep our country safe from bloodthirsty, violent, terror-mongers, there is no chance in hell that the BJP can be kept away from contesting (again, elections are contested, can’t stress that enough!). As far as your desire to see Modi getting defeated -- you will have to hope fervently that the opposition can find a leader far superior than any of the current crop of Gandhis and Kejriwals.
The BJP won fair and square in 2014, and till the time you do not wrap your head around it and accept democracy as the way of life, it will keep winning elections.
So long, oh you Lutyens’ child, please don’t let the door hit you in your rear on your way out!
Writer’s note: The letter in question stinks of a hatchet job. Writing an anonymous letter is very convenient in this situation as there is no way anybody can verify all the claims made by the woman in the letter. However, the claims by themselves are so unsubstantiated and hysterical that I chose to concentrate on that aspect rather than the authenticity of the letter itself.
