At around 05:30 AM on Sunday, an Indian Army Base in Uri, a place around 100 km from Srinagar witnessed a dastardly attack. 4 Terrorists attacked the base and inflicted significant damages to the base. The attack resulted in 17 jawaans losing their lives. Many causalities were caused when the terrorists lobbed grenades in the tents which resulted in some soldiers being burnt alive.
The DGMO, Lieutenant General Ranbir Singh, said the terrorists were foreigners and there are clear signs of the role of the Pakistan based terror group Jaish-e-Mohammed (JeM). The attack has been strongly condemned by J&K CM, Mehbooba Mufti and the Prime Minister of India, Narendra Modi. India has said that the attack will not go unpunished. What will India's strategy be in the days to come, remains to be seen.
