Union Minister for Road Transport and Highways, Nitin Gadkari, announced on Wednesday that the construction of a two-lane Jaiswal Bridge over River Chenab on the Udhampur-Ramban section of NH-44 in Jammu and Kashmir has been completed. The bridge, with a span of 118 meters, was meticulously designed as a balanced cantilever bridge and cost Rs 20 crores.
Gadkari highlighted the significance of the bridge, stating that it serves a dual purpose. Firstly, it will address congestion issues along the Chanderkot to Ramban section, facilitating smoother vehicular movement. Secondly, it will play a crucial role in ensuring the seamless passage of vehicles and pilgrim traffic during the upcoming 'Shri Amarnath Yatra' on the Jammu-Srinagar National Highway 44.
The 'Shri Amarnath Yatra' is scheduled to commence shortly, and the completion of the Jaiswal Bridge will contribute to the efficient and hassle-free travel of pilgrims during this revered pilgrimage.
"Under the visionary leadership of Hon'ble PM Narendra Modi, we remain steadfast in our commitment to providing Jammu and Kashmir with exceptional highway infrastructure," the minister said.
"This transformative development not only contributes to the region's economic growth but also enhances its allure as a prime tourist destination," he added.
The completion of the Jaiswal Bridge marks a significant milestone in enhancing connectivity and infrastructure in the region. The bridge's strategic location on NH-44 not only facilitates the smooth movement of vehicles during the Amarnath Yatra but also contributes to the overall development of the Udhampur-Ramban section.
With its meticulous design and sturdy construction, the Jaiswal Bridge showcases the government's commitment to improving transportation networks and ensuring the safety and convenience of commuters. This achievement is a testament to the continuous efforts to enhance infrastructure in Jammu and Kashmir, fostering regional growth and connectivity.
