On Thursday, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) unveiled its comprehensive election manifesto for the Haryana Assembly elections. This release comes in the wake of the Congress party’s announcement of seven guarantees for the state, which was made just a day earlier. The manifesto launch was held in Rohtak and featured prominent figures including Union Minister and BJP President JP Nadda, Haryana BJP President Mohan Lal Badoli, and Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini.
The BJP’s manifesto presents several ambitious promises aimed at addressing key issues in Haryana. A major highlight is the commitment to providing guaranteed government jobs for Agniveers. This promise is part of the party’s broader strategy to appeal to voters by addressing job security concerns and supporting former Agniveers.
In addition to job guarantees, the BJP promises financial assistance of Rs 2,100 per month to women under the 'Lado Laxmi Yojana.' This scheme aims to provide economic support and improve the financial stability of women across the state. To further enhance employment opportunities, the BJP plans to establish ten industrial cities modelled after IMT Kharkhoda. This initiative is expected to create over 50,000 jobs for youth from neighbouring villages, thereby boosting local employment and economic development.
The manifesto also addresses healthcare improvements. Under the Chirayu Ayushman scheme, the annual coverage amount will be increased from Rs 5 lakh to Rs 10 lakh, reflecting the party’s commitment to enhancing healthcare services. Additionally, the BJP proposes to support college-going female students by providing them with scooters through the 'Awal Balika Yojana.' Another promise includes offering LPG cylinders at a subsidised rate of Rs 500 under the 'Har Ghar Grahini Yojana.'
During the launch event, JP Nadda emphasised the significance of these promises, stating that women will receive Rs 2,100 per month under the 'Lado Laxmi Yojana,' and the Chirayu Ayushman scheme will see a significant increase in coverage. He also assured that the Minimum Support Price (MSP) on 24 crops will continue and that the party will provide government jobs to 2 lakh youth. Nadda reiterated that LPG cylinders will remain available for Rs 500 to Antyodaya BPL families and underscored the guarantee of government jobs for Agniveers.
Nadda took the opportunity to criticise the Congress party’s manifesto, describing it as a mere formality and an attempt to mislead the electorate. Reflecting on Haryana's past, he pointed out the issues of corruption and inefficiency, contrasting them with the BJP’s vision for the state’s future.
In response, the Congress party has also promised several guarantees, including the restoration of the Old Pension Scheme, the creation of two lakh jobs, a caste survey, 300 units of free power, and free medical treatment up to Rs 25 lakh.
The elections for the 90-member Haryana legislative assembly are scheduled for October 5, with the results to be counted on October 8, alongside those from Jammu and Kashmir.
