Cabinet nod for Uttar Pradesh innovation fund

The Cabinet has approved the establishment of the UP Innovation Fund to give Rs 400 crore to technical universities, educational institutes and institutes of higher education in the next two to three years. An investment of another Rs 4,000 crore can be done in start-ups through investors.
The Cabinet has approved a committee under the chief secretary, to appoint a Trust, law firm and investment manager. Deloitte will be the advisor in the selection process and provide the bid document. The department of technical education has been appointed nodal agency for further management of the fund.
A Centre for Excellence on drone technology will be established at IIT Kanpur and Rs 20.3 crore will be invested. The centre will provide assistance to 20 new start-ups and training to 100 drone pilots each year.
The Cabinet also approved Rs 176.12 crore for the construction of a district jail in Amethi. The jail will have a capacity of 990 prisoners. Land has been identified for the project in Sakrawa village in Gauriganj tehsil.
A proposal was also cleared for transferring 2.514-hectare land under the department of civil aviation to the technical education department for the expansion of the Ambedkarnagar Rajkiya Inter College.
A proposal was accepted for the final notification for the expansion of limits of Barsana Nagar panchayat in Mathura, Bharatkund Nagar panchayat in Ayodhya and Subeha Nagar panchayat in Barabanki. The final proposal was approved for constituting the Minhipurwa Nagar panchayat in Bahraich.
Another proposal for final notification of the expansion of the Maunath Nagar Palika Parishad was also approved. The Cabinet also approved a fresh proposal for the expansion of limits of Aonla Nagar Palika Parishad and Nawabganj Nagar Palika Parishad in Bareilly.
For the improvement of tourist facilities in the Braj area under Mathura district, 2.023 hectare land with the irrigation department will be transferred to the tourism department. The forest department will also transfer 2.0112 hectares of land to the tourism department in exchange for gram sabha land in Madaur Village, for the construction of a parikrama path, toilet block and solar plant at the Kokila Van Shani Dham.
The government will also provide a guarantee of Rs 200 crore for advance and refinanced loans of a maximum of Rs 100 crore from UP Sahkari Gram Vikas Bank.
